THE Tidimane Secondary School principal in Rustenburg, North West, appeared in the Mogwase Magistrates Court on Thursday, 2 May, for allegedly assaulting a pupil in February 2023.

The case was postponed to 11 June for an attorney to consult with the client.

The pupil was allegedly seriously injured, and the principal took him to a doctor and paid his medical bills.

A year later, the pupil has not fully healed, and his mother wants justice.

It’s alleged the principal beat up pupils using an electric PVC pipe in February 2023 for not bringing textbooks to school.

The pupils apparently share the books in pairs. On that day, the other pupil had allegedly left the book at home.

A grade 9 pupil was allegedly seriously injured in his right hand. His hand was swollen, and he struggled to use it and complained of pain.

The mother said she felt the law was failing the family.

"I want the principal to take accountability for what he did to my child."

She said the case was dragged on purpose. She demands the principal should be suspended.

"The department [of education] is failing to deal with this matter. The thought that my son might be permanently injured pains me every day."
