What's the story?

Masandawana star Bongani Zungu has taken to Instagram to share an update on his injury suffered against TS Galaxy, sharing a cryptic message that references a recent Mohamed Salah quote.

Zungu had to be withdrawn just a few minutes after being introduced as a substitute in Sundowns' 3-0 win over the Rockets on Monday in the DStv Premiership, with Rulani Mokwena insinuating that Sead Ramovic planned for his players to target Zungu.

Zungu responds after injury setback

After recently returning from a short injury layoff, Bongani Zungu is set for another spell on the sidelines after being on the receiving end of a crude tackle by Orebotse Mongae, which saw the Galaxy winger receive a red card.

Zungu was substituted after being introduced in the 76th minute as a substitute in Sundowns' 3-0 DStv Premiership win over the Rockets on Monday.

The bad blood between the Rockets and Masandawana was sparked by the former Amiens and Rangers midfielder's brutal tackle on veteran striker, Bernard Parker back in October during the first round of the Carling Knockout Cup, resulting in "Die Hond" breaking his leg.

The former Kaizer Chiefs striker returned to action in Monday's match, missing a stoppage time penalty after replacing Samir Nurkovic.

After Monday's encounter, Mokwena came out swinging and questioned the tackle on Zungu, citing that TS Galaxy boss Sead Ramovic had showed his players Zungu's leg-breaking tackle on Bernard Parker.

TS Galaxy responded to Rulani's claims, saying the Downs mentor had lied through his teeth and they were giving him a deadline to prove his claims and if failing to do so, the club and Ramovic would institute legal proceedings against him.

Zungu seemingly threw shade on his IG story, sharing a picture of him wearing a moon boot on his foot, while watching the SuperSport United Vs Royal AM match on Wednesday night.

The baller responded to a story from Bafana Zungu which read: "@bonganizungu I hope you also got an apology. Too bad we don't have the media narratives on our side. We will always resort to truth and honesty!

"@coach_rulani thank you for the support. May God bless you."

Zungu went on to quote Mo Salah and wrote: "If I talk, there will be fire," in response on IG. Rulani also replied to Bafana's story, wishing Bongani a speedy recovery:

"I'll stand with Zungu and any of [my] players any day. God bless you more @bafanazungu1. [I] hope to see you and the family soon. Pass my regards to mom. Speedy recovery @bonganizungu.
