SEASONED actor Muzi Mthabela has landed a new role.

The 47-year-old from Eshowe, KZN, is set to join the cast of My Brother's Keeper as Mqondisi Shabalala in season 2 of the Mzansi Magic telenovela.

Muzi told Daily Sun the character he'll be playing will be more relevant to his role as Mqondisi.

"Mqondisi is going to do what his name means. They named him such knowing chaos happening at the Mshengu household. Mqondisi must fix whatever is happening, but he's also coming with his problems," said Muzi.

The Generations: The legacy actor will feature as Mshengu's estranged younger brother, and the two have a complicated history that includes betrayal and stepping on each other's toes.

Mqondisi is one person who can stand up to Mshengu and doesn't hold back on any opportunity to have one up on him.

Muzi said he is not used to being called a younger brother because of the characters he's played before. He's always been an older brother.

"It's going to be an interesting one for me, and this is a lighter character than ones I've played before. I always play strong characters. What's interesting are the dynamics involved," he said.

Muzi said he'll not be leaving Generations: The Legacy, and they are working on plans suitable for both shows.

"We're in talks with the Generations production to find a way to record my scenes and save them to be used later on, but it's not clear how long I'll be on My Brother's keeper," Muzi said.

Muzi recently joined Durban-based radio station Ukhozi FM after the radio station introduced its new line-up.

"UKhozi is not something I do every day or is demanding in terms of time because their things are planned and scheduled, so I'll be able to ask and go shoot with them."
