THE accused in the murder case of the late Kaizer Chiefs defender Luke Fleurs are scheduled to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 7 May.

This follows a brief court session on Thursday, 2 May.

The hearing was adjourned to allow investigating officer Nare Moloto to provide further clarification on some statements made by the accused.

These statements, detailing how they were apprehended in various hiding spots by the officer, were presented in court.

On Thursday, 25 April, the six accused - Ndumiso Ndura Moswane (26), Fernando Nando Sive (25), Nhlakanipho Dlamini (21), Franky Xaba (25), Maredi Mphahlele (36), and Thembinkosi Hlanikhawu (31) - were remanded in custody.

The court sought to examine specific details in their statements following the reading of their affidavits by Legal Aid lawyers Ingrid Mainule and Moshibudi Molefi.

Previously, on Friday, 19 April, they were remanded in custody after their Legal Aid representatives failed to attend their second court appearance.

All six have been arrested in connection with the murder of Fleurs and face charges of murder with common purpose, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and defeating the ends of justice.

State prosecutor Paseka Temeki revealed during the proceedings that all accused live in Slovoville, Soweto, as he presented their affidavits to Magistrate Delise Smith.

NPA regional spokeswoman Phindi Mjonodwane updated the media after the court hearing and said: "The investigation is actively ongoing. We await further details from the investigating officer as the state continues to build its case.
