THE family of the murdered Sandra Mabaso is not happy with how the case keeps dragging on.
The case saw a new development when Lerato Sefekedi (45), accused of murdering his former partner Sandra in August 2022 and setting alight her home in Protea Glen, Soweto, appeared in the Protea Magistrates Court for a bail application on Monday, 6 May.
Sandra died at the scene, while her six-year-old son Oratile, who was with her in the house during the incident, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
The bail hearing was postponed to Tuesday, 7 May, due to the absence of the defence counsel.
Sandra's sister Adelaide Mabaso expressed her unease to Daily Sun regarding the possibility of Sefekedi being granted bail.
"We discovered that the case file hasn't been summarised yet, which likely contributed to the delay," she said.

Adelaide is advocating for the case to be escalated to the High Court, saying the ordeal felt like torture to the family.
"We no longer feel free and safe. I feel as if him applying for bail will put our family at risk. I feel like the surviving witness might not be safe should he be granted bail. He is capable of harassing us,” she said.
She recounted the tragic night of her sister's death. She said three people were present in the home: the two victims and a witness.
"The witness survived unharmed as he was in another room when the fire broke out in his mother's bedroom," she said.
Sefekedi, who had been evading arrest since 2022, was apprehended in April in Thembisa, Ekurhuleni.
He is accused of fatally stabbing Sandra before setting her home ablaze.
The Mabaso family highlighted Sefekedi's alleged history of abuse towards Sandra, including multiple police reports and a protection order, which ultimately proved futile as he allegedly forced her into retracting her statements.
