SWIFT police action led to the arrest of a suspect accused of shooting and killing a taxi boss.
The chairman of the Meter Taxi Association was gunned down in Tshwane Central on Tuesday, 30 April, in the evening.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said the 30-year-old suspect was arrested immediately after the incident.
He was found in possession of a firearm believed to have been used in the crime.
"Members from the Rapid Rail Police Unit were at Pretoria Railway Station when they heard gunshots. They quickly rushed to the scene and noticed a man carrying a firearm running towards the CBD. When asked to stop, the suspect fired shots at the police, and the police responded by shooting back. The suspect was shot and injured before he was arrested," Masondo said.
