THE family of well-known DJ Mpilo, a former resident DJ at Metro FM and Gagasi FM, is breathing a sigh of relief following his miraculous recovery from a sudden cardiac arrest.

The 37-year-old DJ, who hails from KwaDukuza in KZN, was recently discharged from KwaDukuza Private Hospital.

He was admitted in a critical condition on Monday, 22 April, but has since made significant progress.

DJ Mpilo, whose real name is Mpilo Nhleko, is recuperating at home after his release from hospital on Wednesday, 24 April.

Speaking to Daily Sun, family spokesman Mnqobi Nhleko shared that DJ Mpilo was rushed to hospital following a severe medical emergency.

"He is now recovering at home, and thankfully, his condition has improved considerably since the early hours of Monday, 22 April. We appreciate all those who supported us during the difficult time. We kindly ask for thoughts and prayers for his swift and complete recovery,” he said.


The exact cause of DJ Mpilo's sudden cardiac arrest remains uncertain at this time.

DJ Mpilo made his mark in the music industry with the release of his debut single, Let The Music Take Control, featuring Drama Drizzy in 2019.

This marked a significant milestone after nearly 15 years of captivating audiences as a live performer at various events and radio stations.

Following his achievement, DJ Mpilo continued to release more music, including his debut album Amabutho in 2021, showcasing his belief in his musical skill.
