ACTIONSA Gauteng Premier candidate Funzi Ngobeni allegedly survived a hijacking.
"Hijackers told me they are tired of ANC and MK leader Jacob Zuma for wanting to come back. They said Zuma had his own share with the Guptas, so why did he want to come back? We laughed about me," he said.
This is after Ngobeni and the Youth Forum Chairwoman, Hluphi Gafane survived an alleged car hijacking incident on Tuesday, 7 May.
The two leaders were travelling in a Toyota Hilux when they were attacked in Olievenhoutbosch at approximately 7pm.
Speaking of the hijacking, Ngobeni said he could see in his mirror that a car was following him.
"We're always checking on our mirrors as politicians to see who's following us. Sometimes, it's just paranoia on our part. I decided to drive past Gafane's house to see if this car was following me. I went around the corner and didn't see it anymore. I went around the area and stopped at Gafane's house. I told her I was outside, and she came and opened the gate. I found the generator at the gate already. We carried it and put it in on the bakkie," he said.
He said before he could close the door of the bakkie, he was approached by three men with guns.
"They instructed us to get in the car, and we complied. Our heads were down, and guns pointed at our heads. They drove with us for three hours. We didn't know where we were going but could see we were getting out of town," he said.
He said the alleged criminals drove into the bush.
"I could feel we were driving into the bush and not a gravel road. The car wasn't moving like it normally moves on the gravel road. As it stopped, I could feel it was under a tree," he added.
Ngobeni said they were instructed to get out of the car and lie on their bellies, facing down. He said two guys left with the car while one was left to guard them.

"That ordeal lasted for about three hours. They were moving us from one spot to another in the bush. And every time when they were moving us to a different spot, I felt that was the spot they were going to take our lives," he said.
He said he kept praying.
Ngobeni said he told the criminals he hoped they would vote for ActionSA, and they told him they wanted him in Parliament.
Police spokeswoman Brenda Muridili said an ActionSA politician and his female colleague were hijacked and kidnapped yesterday evening, 7 May 2024, around 8pm, in Olievenhoutbosch, Gauteng.
"The victims were found just before midnight in Benoni and have been safely reunited with their families," Muridili said.
