FORMER Gauteng Premier Tokyo Sexwale says the ANC has fallen short in several areas.
During the ANC campaign trail at Gamaphutheng Shopping Centre in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, on Tuesday, 7 May, Sexwale said there's no need to point fingers.
He said he attended the event to boost the governing party’s campaign efforts.
“We're here to decampaign lack of water for our people, potholes, poverty and campaign for the success of this country," Sixwale said.
As a long-time member of the party, he stated that this was not the time to point fingers but help "put out the house fire".
“When your father’s home is on fire, you don’t ask what's happening. You take a bucket and join others, and we douse the flames. Then, we can talk later about what caused the problem.
“For now, when you are a soldier in the trenches as Chris Hani was, when there are problems inside your family, they can wait. The house is on fire that’s why we're here to join these leaders during this campaign.”
He said, like many other organisations, ANC has made mistakes, and it must learn from them.

Sexwale said the party is undergoing a process of renewal and aims to do better.
“We're bending on our knees in front of our people, and promise them a better life, not just in general because we said it in 1994. But a better life is because we want to renew the ANC and reconstruct the country.
“We'll be accessing every aspect of the political and economic life as they take place inside the country.
“After the elections, we have to sit down and find out because there are many issues that need to be addressed.”
Sexwale, Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Lebogang Maile, and ANC Gauteng Provincial Secretary TK Nciza visited Gogo Elizabeth Mashabo in Thokoza, Ekurhuleni, as part of the campaign trail.
Mashabo (99) said she’s an ANC supporter.
“I’m going to vote for my party. My plea is, don’t forget me when I die. You must come and bury me,” said Mashabo.
