Help gogo find missing hubby

MARGARIDA Wakanwa (59) from Block G in Letlhabile, North West, is pleading with people to help her reunite with her missing husband.

She hopes that one day, she will see him knock at the door.

Margarida said when she left home, her husband, Antonio Leandro Wakanwa (73), went missing on the morning of Thursday, 2 May, as she went for her high blood pressure check-up at a local clinic.

"When I returned home, my husband was gone. He left the gate open and took the padlock with him. He didn't even close the door to the house," she said.

Margarida said her husband suffers from dementia, is partially blind, can't hear properly, and is struggling to talk.

The Angolan-born couple has been married since 1990 and has one child.

She said Antonio would go missing for two days and come back, but this time he had gone for too long.

"He would never tell me where exactly he was. He would just tell me he was walking around," gogo said.

Margarida has been looking for Antonio in different places with no luck.

"I don't know where he is. I need help to get my husband back. I feel bad. I'm struggling to eat and sleep thinking of his whereabouts," said Margarida.

Her friend, Maria Moreno (63) said: "This is so sad, and I hope Antonio returns home safely."

North West police spokeswoman Colonel Adéle Myburgh said police in Letlhabile are requesting the community's assistance in locating Antonio.

"He was last seen wearing a grey jacket, a torn jersey with blue stripes, green short pants, and white slippers," Myburgh said.

She said Antonio has dementia and it's possible that he will not be able to remember his name or address.

"Anyone who may have information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact Investigating Officer Constable Tshiriletso Ratsola of Letlhabile Detectives or your nearest police station," Myburgh said.
