LOOKING at dirty water that comes out of her tap angers gogo Constance Ndlovu.
This is because it's the same water that killed her husband, Johannes Mathonsi (64) and daughter, Sylvia Ndlovu (42), who both died from cholera in May 2023.
The 62-year-old from Portion 9 in Hammanskraal, Tshwane, told Daily Sun it's been almost a year since she lost her loved ones, and she's still struggling to cope.
She said the problem of dirty water in their area, which has still not been solved, has left her shattered.
"Our taps still have the same dirty water that killed my husband and daughter. They both died of cholera," she said.
She said she was also admitted to Jubilee Hospital in Hammanskraal, but survived.
"It was the three of us in hospital. Our water has killed them. We don't drink tap water anymore because it looks like poison to us. We fear it," she said.
Gogo Constance said they don't always have money to buy water, but they are forced to with the little money they have. She said she is not comfortable when she sees children next to the tap.

She said they rely on water tanks, which she doesn't trust after the cholera outbreak.
"My husband and daughter left us. I don't have anyone who is helping me. I'm suffering. I rely on grant money, but it is not enough,” she said.
Gogo Constance said life is no longer the same without her husband. She said it's painful whenever she looks at his photos in her album.
"Government has failed me. My husband was my friend. I'm looking after my grandchildren now," she said.
The gogo still thinks the cholera outbreak will revisit them.
