Dagga, knives, scissors, broken pieces of mirrors were discovered inside school bags and some knives were hidden in the window seals.
Hearts were racing as they were ordered to stand in line against the wall to be further searched.
While some pupils complied, others were reluctant, but the cops pressed on relentlessly and more dagga was found in their trousers.
Pupils use scissors for their school projects, but others use them as weapons to stab others and claim self defence.
The searches took place at Phakamani and BB Mnyataza secondary schools in Etwatwa, Ekurhuleni to safeguard the well-being of pupils and teachers.
Jomo Msimang, head of school patrollers in Ekurhuleni and CPF members, said:
One pupil decided to leave his small waist bag inside the principal's office when he saw cops approaching and disappeared.
Inside the bag, cops and patrollers found rolled dagga and small ziplock bags containing the substance concealed within the bag.
Captain Nelda Sekgobela said the school search programme is conducted by Saps to keep pupils and teachers safe and this is done randomly.
