IZANGOMA said they are supporting uMkhonto Wesizwe, particularly its leader, Jacob Zuma because he has a calling to lead South Africa.

They told Daily Sun Zuma is chosen by ancestors.

Sangoma Melusi Radebe said they performed rituals at the Union Buildings in Tshwane on Friday, 3 May, so that ancestors can lead and protect Zuma.

He said they burnt herbs and invited all their ancestors to come together to protect Zuma and give him the power to lead the country in a good way.

He said the rituals will help protect the former president from accidents and uprisings.

"Zuma has delivered the most services in the country since democracy in 1994. During his rule, many people were working and there was no hunger," Radebe said.

"The current government no longer represents the black community like when it started 112 years ago.

"We want him. When he leaves this world and joins our ancestors, he must explain to them that the country is left in good condition."

He said Zuma wants to give back the land to the rightful owners so that people get their dignity back.

"There is poverty, crime and there are no jobs. As blacks, we're suffering. We don't want to die without getting back our inheritance, the land. We have to cleanse the dark cloud which is hovering over the country and destroying the black community," he said.

Another traditional healer, Dumazile Hlatshwayo said: "People are joining MK party. We're following Zuma because of his calling. We plead with the ancestors to open a way for him. When Zuma was in Parliament, he always smiled with the people."
